We at Franklin Ford can’t think of many places more storied than our Franklin area. Our heritage goes as far back as 1660 when European settlers first appeared, and the town of Franklin was officially incorporated as the western part of the town of Wrentham in 1778, during the American Revolution. We were almost called Exeter, but citizens decided on Franklin in honor of Benjamin Franklin.
And today, whether you’re visiting from Attleboro or North Attleboro, Milford or Bellingham, MA, or you’re on your way through from Woonsocket, RI, plenty of history as well as modern-day amusements are plain to see.
When you patronize the Franklin Cultural District, its slogan, “Arts Happen Here!” is more than apparent. The 3rd Annual Franklin Cultural Festival is fast approaching, to take place from Wednesday, July 26 to Saturday, July 29, 2017, and it’ll incorporate not only fine arts and performing arts events, but culinary arts curios. So be sure to check it out!
If intellectual pleasures are your preference, you can visit our host of area public libraries, including Franklin Public Library, the very first founded in America. There’s also a pilgrimage to the past to be taken at spots like the Franklin Historical Museum, where a Horace Mann exhibit showcases an homage to the eponymous father of American education.
And nature-lovers will appreciate myriad town parks, playgrounds, and numerous other recreation sites from which to choose, including the beautiful Beaver Pond and Dacey Field Dog Park, where loads of pet fun abound.
There’s even a Franklin Farmer’s Market, taking place on Fridays from June 2 to October 27, 2017, at the Franklin, MA Town Common, where you can find local farm produce and other goods on proud display. Plus, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Mt St. Abbey Candy & Chocolate Factory, where sweet treats made for many decades by the Trappistine sisters will be sure to delight.
You’re welcome to visit and experience take in a bit of this enjoyment for yourself. And while you’re in town, feel free to stop by and see us here at our 175 East Central Street showroom, where we showcase more than a few modern-day marvels in the form of a top-notch lineup of brand-new Ford and stellar-quality pre-owned vehicles. We look forward to introducing you to the Franklin, MA life!
